Paris Downtown Food Pantry announced its added satellite pantry serving Northwest Lamar County.
“We’re super excited to have this area of Lamar County additionally covered through a satellite pantry,” Food Pantry Executive Director Allen Hubbard said. “Lots of people live in the Northwest portion of the county and anything we can do to help alleviate hunger for them is a privilege.”
He said Doris Boswell took the initiative to help provide the area with a satellite pantry.
“We appreciate Doris Boswell very much for taking this initiative,” he said. “She’s a regular volunteer at the Paris pantry and lives out that way and saw the need.”
Other satellite pantries within Lamar County include:
- Deport at the United Methodist Church;
- Powderly at the UMC;
- Roxton at the UMC; and
- Blossom at their Church of God
Those looking to take advantage of the food pantry’s satellite location must live in the area. They will provide a box of food to families every second Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. at the Chicota Community Center, 100 County Road 35860 in Chicota.
To volunteer alongside Chicota Baptist Church can contact Boswell at 903-782-5928.
“It’s a community effort among folks in that area,” Hubbard said.
