A Paris panhandler, who frequented the intersection of NE Loop 286 and Lamar Avenue soliciting donations, pled guilty on Thursday to impersonating military personnel.
On Feb. 19, Kevin Dewayne Rogers posted a video to YouTube that caused an uproar amongst the community after he admitted in the video to lying about his Military Service.
According to court documents in the video Rogers stated, “It’s understandable, I’ve been to prison twice. Yes, to all those who have seen me with the disabled war vet sign, you’re right, I apologize to everybody that have ever helped me with that sign. I was lying. Am I doing this to hurt anyone? No, I’m doing this to show y’all my lifestyle.”
Rogers was arrested on Mar. 24 on ‘Fraudulent/Fictitious Military Record’ charges and appeared in Judge Bill Harris’ courtroom on Thursday where he pled guilty and was sentenced to 60 days in the Lamar County Jail.
