On April 27th, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office was presented with a check to cover 27 life-saving trauma kits and this afternoon those kits were delivered.

Load Trail, out of Sumner, contacted Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop president, Amanda Willows wanting to adopt officers for National Police Week.

“We called not long after the list was posted but Amanda told us everyone was adopted in less than five hours,” said Patti Torres of Load Trail.

Wanting to show their support for local law enforcement, Patti asked if they needed anything else that they don’t have and that’s when Amanda explained what the trauma packs do and that they’d like to get those to officers in Lamar County.

“I called my boss and explained everything Amanda and I had talked about regarding the trauma packs and without hesitation said we’d buy them all,” said Patti. “Without knowing the cost of each trauma pack she said whatever it is Load Trail will supply them.”

Amanda Willows was blown away by the love and support Load Trail has shown officers in Lamar County.

“We didn’t even have to contact them to ask. As soon as we let them know what we needed, they went straight to work on getting the donations to help us,” said Willows.

The trauma kits have proved to be life-saving, with an officer in Pennsylvania saving his own life with a trauma kit after being shot multiple times. These kits can be carried on them and are filled with potentially life-saving medical supplies for traumatic injuries.

“We are so thankful for Load Trail and all they have done to help with our mission,” said Willows. “Without businesses like them, none of this would be possible.”

Corny, Jake, Johnny, Frank, Aganetha, and Anna (Harms) Thiessen, owners of Load Trail, along with their teams are now working hard to help with making sure officers have all the equipment they need and the next fundraiser with Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop.
