On Friday evening, August 14, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Paris Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop in the 10-block of NE 35th Street. During the stop, officers made contact with the driver and observed signs of intoxication. Officers also discovered that three children under the age of 15 were passengers in the vehicle.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, and the driver failed the tests. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under 15 Years of Age, a state jail felony.
On Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, at approximately 7:36 p.m., Paris Police Department officers were patrolling in the 1400 block of SE Loop 286 when a vehicle nearly struck the patrol vehicle head-on, forcing the officers to take evasive action and leave the roadway.
Officers turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle, activating their emergency lights and siren. The driver failed to stop and continued for several blocks before finally stopping in the 3100 block of SE Loop 286.
Officers made contact with the driver and determined that he was intoxicated. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle, a third-degree felony, and Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container, a misdemeanor.
Both suspects were booked and processed without incident.
