On February 22, 2018, the Reno Police Department received a call from the Reno Quick Stop, 6275 Lamar Road, regarding credit card skimming devices.

“We were working with other agencies trying to catch the offenders when they came back to the card skimmer, which is why we didn’t release this information earlier,” Reno Chief of Police, Jeremy Massey.

During maintenance of the gas pumps, skimming devices were located.

“The devices were immediately removed from the pumps and it is unknown at this time when the devices were placed there,” said Massey.

The Reno Police Department contacted other agencies involved in these investigations in an effort to apprehend the suspects if they returned to gather data from the devices.

No arrests have been made so far.

“We urge citizens to keep a watchful eye on bank accounts/credit accounts for unauthorized credit charges. A credit payment at a gas pump, is a frequent target of this type of fraud,” added Massey.
