Paris Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at about 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday after a window A/C unit was believed to have malfunctioned, causing the fire.
“Occupants in the house when the fire started stated they saw smoke coming (near a window AC unit) and then exited the house,” according to Paris Fire Department fire reports. “The utilities were secured by (Quint)-4’s crew and Oncor/Atmos were notified at (6:53 p.m.)”
Once on scene of the structure fire at 1951 E. Cherry St., Paris fire crews saw flames coming from the house’s front window and front door.
“… there were no occupants still inside upon … arrival,” according to fire reports.
Engine-1 arrived at the scene and began a transitional attack on the front of the house and established a water supply from a fire hydrant at the corner of 20th N.E. and Cherry streets.
Rescue-1 set up a Rapid Intervention Crew – crew assigned for rapid deployment to rescue lost or trapped members if needed – while Quint-4 performed a primary search, which was completed at about 6:50 p.m.
The fire was considered under control at about 7 p.m. The crew from Engine-3 performed and cleared a secondary search of the home at about 7: 20 p.m.
“In addition to the utility companies, American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced occupants from the house,” according to fire reports.
All units cleared the scene at about 7:45 p.m.
