During the early morning hours of November 4th, 2018, Joseph Robert “Joey” Clayton was suddenly, and prematurely, taken from this world to live with his Father in heaven.

Joey was born June 23rd, 1992 to Sheila Ann Gladden Clayton and Joe Bob Clayton. Joey was the joy of the family from the very beginning. He was fun, charismatic, imaginative, funny, and bold. These characteristics stuck with him for the rest of his life. Joey was the type of person that just had too much love inside of his heart to hold in. He was caring and compassionate when it came to the people he loved.

Joey attained the rank of Eagle Scout, served our nation in the US Navy, and was an employee at Kimberly Clark. If you ask any of Joey’s friends, family, or anyone else that knew him, they would describe him as one of the most “happy-go-lucky” people they had ever met. Joey was very big into cinematography and woodworking in his adult years. He loved the outdoors and took any chance he could to visit and work on his papaw’s ranch. He frequently visited and checked in on people in his family, as well as old friends. He was the type of guy that you would call if you were stuck between a rock and a hard place because he would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need.

Joey is survived by his mother, Sheila Ann Gladden Clayton; his father, Joe Bob Clayton; his little sister, Jessica Clayton; his paternal grandparents, Mary Sue Clayton, and Herschel Joe Clayton; his maternal grandparents, Ruth Ann Terrell, and Samuel Bruce Terrell; and his special friend, Grace Swan. Joey had many extended family members and many loving friends. He will truly be missed and the family would appreciate thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends at Roden-Pryor Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 6th from 5pm-7pm.

Funeral serivices will be held at Roden-Pryor Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 7th at 10:30am with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
