On Oct. 16, Officers of the Paris Police Department and North East Texas Auto Theft Task Force received information that a stolen vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet Pickup, was in the Paris area. An officer located the vehicle in the 2000 block of Lamar Avenue parked at a business. Officers covertly observed the stolen vehicle and witnessed a white male, later identified as Eric Wolfgang Ybarra (31) of Flint Texas to exit the vehicle. Ybarra got into a vehicle with another subject and left the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle containing Ybarra, a Chevy Malibu, and detained Ybarra and the driver. Narcotics paraphernalia was discovered in the Malibu as well as the keys to the stolen vehicle,. Ybarra admitted to officers that there were more narcotics in the stolen vehicle of which he claimed sole possession. Officers recovered methamphetamine from the 2007 Chevy pickup. Ybarra was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Possession of a controlled Substance. The driver of the Malibu was temporarily detained and then released.
On Oct. 17, Officers responded to a call of Theft in the 1300 block of E. Houston. The victim advised a known suspect had come to the residence requesting a drink. The victim allowed the subject to go into another room unsupervised to get a soda. The suspect then left. Later the victim went into the room and found that a prescription of pain medication had been stolen. Officers were unable to locate the suspect at that time but an investigation is ongoing.
On Oct. 19 Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 10 block of NW 11th St. The caller advised that Quentin Walters had made threats with a firearm. Upon arrival officers contacted Quentin Deshon Walters (45). Walters was found not to have possession of a firearm but as the investigation progressed it was discovered that Walters was in possession of prescription medications for which he had no prescription. He was also in possession of marijuana. Walters was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces. He was booked without incident and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On Oct. 19, Officers responded to a Burglar Alarm call in the 3700 block of Lamar. Upon arrival they discovered that the front door had been broken out. The officers cleared the building and notified the owner. Upon arrival the owner accessed camera footage which officers took as evidence. The single suspect had thrown an object through the glass door, entered the business and stolen numerous items from behind the counter of the business. Evidence was collected at the scene and the incident remains under investigation.
On Oct. 19, Officers were notified of a Theft and Fraud. The victim had accidently left her cell phone in the gift shop at Paris Regional Medical Center. The phone had a pouch containing credit cards. An unknown suspect apparently found the phone and has been using the victim’s credit cards. There have been numerous usages in the Paris area. The incident is being investigated by the Paris Police Criminal Investigations Unit.
On Oct. 19, the department received a report of a theft in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue. A suspect had stolen a pair of sunglasses valued at $300.00. The business produced video of the suspect as well as a partial plate number of the suspect’s vehicle. Officers conducted further investigation and are confident that they will identify the suspect. The investigation continues at this time.
Officers made 48 traffic stops, 12 adult arrest, and answered 334 calls for service during this reporting period.
