The United States Marshall Service, alongside the FBITexas DPS and other law enforcement agencies, are on the hunt for a reportedly dangerous fugitive who may be in Hunt County.

Hunt County Crime Stoppers issued a notice Thursday, July 25, seeking information on the whereabouts of 53-year-old Kevin Lyndell Massey of Quinlan.

On Tuesday evening, US Marshals, DPS, and FBI moved to execute a search warrant on Massey, who also goes by KC or Todd Edward, with no luck.

Massey was sentenced to a Federal Prison back in 2015, and according to a press release on an FBI website, he was found guilty of four counts of felon in possession of a firearm following a bench trial before the U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen. Furthermore, a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, stated Massey was a member of a citizen group known as “Rusty’s Rangers” or “Rusty’s Regulators.”

The Herald Banner reported, the group consisted of citizens who mounted armed patrols in the Rio Grande area allegedly in search of and to possibly apprehend aliens attempting to enter the U.S. illegally. On Aug. 29, 2014, law enforcement agents were pursuing suspected illegal aliens in heavy brush when they encountered an individual of the group. A Border Patrol agent allegedly perceived him as a threat and discharged his weapon, but did not strike the armed citizen.

It is unknown at this time what the current arrest warrant is for, however, according to the Hunt County Theft Reports Facebook page, law enforcement has now issued a ‘wanted’ status for Massey.

On June 10, the Facebook page of Kevin KC Massey said, “The federal government has issued a warrant for the arrest of KC Massey. KC is done playing the game of unconstitutional courts that already cost him 3+ years in federal prison for not even violating the law as written. The judge said in his statement, that the conviction was based on court precedent not on the written letter of the law. The feds continued to subject KC to their tyranny after release from prison, while serving a double jeopardy sentence of 3 years probation. KC is NOT going to allow himself to be kidnapped again. Death before dishonor!”

Hunt County Crime Stoppers stated, “DO NOT APPROACH. Subject is considered armed and dangerous and has reportedly made threats to kill law enforcement that attempt to arrest him.”

Anyone with information concerning Massey’s whereabouts can call Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929 and if the tip leads to an arrest you will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

Callers will remain anonymous and are urged not to contact Massey.
