Lamar County Sheriff’s Office announces several promotions || Tommy Moore named Chief Deputy

Sheriff Scott Cass announced Friday afternoon several promotions within the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office including the announcement of new Chief Deputy.

Tommy Moore was promoted to Chief Deputy of the Lamar County Sheriffs Office and moved into that position effective January 01, 2019.

The position opened after Chief Deputy Jeff Springer retired effective December 31st, 2018.

“Chief Deputy Moore had overseen patrol operations at the Lamar County Sheriffs Office since February 2015,” said Cass.

Chief Deputy Moore joined the Lamar County Sheriffs Office in February of 2015 after retiring from the Paris Police Department where he spent the last 15 years in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Paris Police Department working violent crimes and narcotics.

Chief Deputy Moore has over 25 years in Law Enforcement and holds a Master Peace Officer License.

“Chief Deputy Moore has an outstanding work ethic and shares a passion in professional standards. Chief Moore works well with others, has good leadership ability and will be a great asset to this administrative position. Chief Deputy Moore’s commitment to the Sheriffs Office in his professionalism and service in his job duties is evident not only to this Office but the citizens in which we serve. As my office progresses and re-structures to meet the challenges of the future, please join me in congratulating Chief Deputy Moore in his rank advancement”.

Joel Chipman was also promoted to Captain of the Uniform Patrol Division of the Lamar County Sheriffs Office and moved into that position effective January 1st, 2019.

Captain Chipman re-joined the Lamar County Sheriffs Office in 2017 as a Sergeant in the Patrol Division and has nearly 27 years in law enforcement and holds a Master Peace Officer license and is a United States Marine Corps veteran.

“Captain Chipman has an outstanding work ethic, an exceptional ability to lead and train Officers, and a passion for professional standards in the operation of the patrol division. Captain Chipman’s commitment to the Sheriffs Office in his professionalism, work ethic, and service in his job duties is evident not only to this Office but the citizens in which we serve. As my office progresses and restructures to meet the challenges of the future; please join me in congratulating Captain Joel Chipman on his rank advancement,” said Cass.

Finally, Deputy Hunter Sanders will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division.

Sgt. Sanders was promoted from the patrol division and has been with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office since 2013.

“Sgt. Sanders is very proactive, enjoys community policing, and is respected among his peers,” said Cass. 

“As the Sheriff’s office progresses and re-structures to meet the challenges of the future; this rank adjustment fits with the needs of this agency. Deputy Sanders commitment to the Sheriff’s Office in his professionalism and service in his job duties is evident not only to this Office but the citizens in which we serve. Please help me congratulate Deputy Sanders in his new upcoming promotion.”
