The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office reported it found more presumed-to-be skeletal remains near where what’s believed to be a human skull was found this past weekend.
On Saturday, the sheriff’s office was made aware of a possible human skull on County Road 1060, just northwest of Greenville. The sheriff’s office had originally reported no other remains had been found in or near the area.
On Monday, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department reported cadaver dogs from Mark9 Search Rescue and the East Texas Community Emergency Response team helped in the second search, where the group covered about a quarter-mile radius from where the skull was originally found.
According to the Texas Advocates for the Missing, there are seven people considered missing in Hunt County, one high-profile case from 2017 involves retired Dallas firefighter Michael Chambers from Quinlan.
Working with the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification to determine the identity, the Texas Rangers assisted the Hunt County Sheriffs Office. The remains will be inspected by the Center for Human Identification at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth. A 34-year-old Bedford homicide case was solved with the help of the UNT Health Science Center back in November.
