Following a sold-out “Girls Night Out” in November, the Rotary Club of Paris United recently donated proceeds to three local non-profits.
“Several years ago, before COVID, the Rotary Club of Paris United was searching for fresh ideas to raise funds for its service projects, which include the Healthy Smiles Dental Project, Student Dictionaries, and many more,” said the club. “A former Paris Rotarian introduced the idea of “Girls’ Night Out,” also known as “BLINGO” or purse bingo. Little did the club know just how popular and successful this event would become.”
Tickets for the event in the spring sold out in “under five minutes” and many people weren’t able to attend.
Recognizing the overwhelming demand, the club decided to hold a second event this past November.
Fundraising Chair Brittany Martin proposed that, given the club’s strong financial standing, all proceeds from the November event should be donated to local nonprofits to give back to the community.
Martin led the application process alongside a selection committee, ultimately choosing to distribute the funds as follows: $30,000 to the Boys and Girls Club, $20,000 to Adult & Teen Challenge – East Texas Men’s Center, and $900 to CASA for Kids.
“The success of ‘Girls’ Night Out’ continues to not only support the Rotary Club of Paris United mission and motto of ‘Service Above Self’ but also make a meaningful impact in our local community and world.”
