On Aug. 16, Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue where they arrested Manuel Alejandro Buye Cuauro (19), Mateo Colorado Aguilar (23), and Lucas Saldarriaga (24) for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. The officer was on the scene for an unrelated incident when notified by store personnel of a theft occurring at the present. The officer watched live video of the suspects as they “Skip Scanned” numerous items as a group. The suspects took 583.44 in product and only paid for 161.38. Since the three were working the incident as a team, they were all stopped when trying to exit the store and arrested for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. They were transported without incident.
On Aug. 17, an officer stopped Bradley Joe Ransom (45) for a traffic violation in the 100 block of W. Houston. After he appeared to be nervous of the stop, Ransom was questioned and admitted to having a handgun in his pocket. Ransom was secured and a handgun and ammunition were recovered from his pocket. Ransom was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine as well as a needle for injecting the illegal substance. Ransom, a previously convicted felon, was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On Aug. 18, Officers stopped Zhantreyvious Shanvatay McDonald (28) in the 10 block of NE 3rd St after he was contacted as a passenger in a vehicle with a fictitious license plate. Once the officer made contact with vehicle occupants, he observed McDonald sleeping in the passenger seat with an open bottle of an alcoholic beverage in his lap. The officer also observed marijuana in the vehicle. The driver as well as McDonald were removed from the vehicle and a pat down search revealed that McDonald had a handgun in his pocket. Both subjects were detained and a search of the vehicle revealed more marijuana in the vehicle beneath the seat where McDonald was sitting. The handgun was found to be stolen out of Hugo Oklahoma. The serial number of the handgun showed that attempts had been made to obscure the number. McDonald was charged with Tampering with an Identification Number, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Possession of Marijuana. He was booked without incident.
On Aug. 18, Officers were summoned to Wal-Mart in the 3800 block of Lamar in regards to a theft. Upon arrival they were advised that David Ross Brooks (54) had just stolen a bicycle and was in the area of McDonalds Restaurant. The officer observed Brooks near the store and contacted him. Brooks had been previously given a trespass warning from Wal Mart and was placed under arrest for Criminal Trespassing. Brooks had stolen a bicycle from the store and stashed off store property. The bike was recovered and returned to Wal Mart personnel. A check revealed Brooks already had two convictions for theft. He was charged with Theft of Property under 2500.00 with 2 prior convictions, a Felony, and Criminal Trespassing.
On Aug. 18, Christopher Charles Smitherman (43) was arrested and charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug after officers stopped him for a traffic violation in the 2300 block of Jackson St. Smitherman had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. A subsequent search revealed that Smitherman had several prescription only medication patches in his vehicle. Smitherman could provide no proof that the patches were prescribed to him. Smitherman also had a pipe, commonly used for methamphetamine usage in his pocket. He was arrested without incident.
On Aug. 18, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of E. Booth. A complainant advised that his roommate had something going on and was “Acting Crazy”. Officer contacted Raul Ediel Flores (38) who was found to be highly intoxicated on some substance. Officers investigations led them to discover that Flores was under the influence of what is believed to be Cocaine as well as alcohol. Flores was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and processed without incident.
On Aug. 16, Officers received a report of a Burglary of Residence which had occurred in the 400 block of NE 11th. They spoke with a victim who advised that her home had been burglarized and numerous items had been stolen including tools, clothing, jewelry, and Identification documents. Officers collected evidence at the scene and the investigation will continue.
On Aug. 17, Officers were sent to the 200 block of NW 13th St. in regards to a Robbery. They met the victim who told them he was walking in the area when he was accosted by a known individual who asked for something to drink and a cigarette. When the victim did not produce the requested items, the suspect assaulted him with his fist and then stole 40.00 from the victim. Officers collected information from the victim and the case is under examination.
On Aug. 18, Officers responded to an auto accident in the 700 block of N. Collegiate Dr. An 83 year old female had been struck by a vehicle on the parking lot. The victim was transported to PRMC by Paris EMS. Video surveillance of the incident was checked by the officers who observed a vehicle backing out of a parking place when the front fender of the vehicle struck the victim. The driver stopped immediately and began trying to render aide. The incident was investigated as an accident and no charges were filed. Victim is reported to be in stable condition.
