The Lamar County Contenders are hosting their annual fundraiser this Friday, February 22, at the Paris Texas Elks Lodge.

“The Lamar County Contenders consists of adults from Lamar County, over the age of 21, who have intellectual disability,” said Bill Taylor.

Entertainment will be provided by Cas Haley and Montgomery Moore, and there will be a LIVE and silent auction.

“The Contenders are no longer in public education programs, there are no sources of funds for activities in which they participate except for what the team can raise itself.”

Tickets are $30 per person and include dinner and entertainment (soft drink included), however, alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.

For more information, call Bill Taylor at 816-447-6181

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
