We’re not surprised…are you?

Rover.com has conducted a study of a survey they produced and titled “The Truth About Dog People” which shows how pet owners in modern times are.

This said research found that, “American pet parents are redefining dog ownership through an increased regard for the feelings and dignity of their pets.”

94% of dog owners consider their pet as, “part of the family” which shows that having a pet has evolved from ownership to kinship.

However, the biggest thing for us is the 65% of people that admit to taking more photos of their dogs than their significant others.

Among that percentage is 47% who would find it more difficult to be without their dog for a week than to be without their human partner.

The study also discovered:

  • 54% of dog owners would consider ending a relationship if their dog didn’t like their partner
  • 24% of pet parents make up songs to sing to their dogs
  • One in four pet parents have brought their pet on a date
  • 56% of dog people say hello their dog first when they come home before greeting the rest of the family
