Local musician Trey Rose went head-to-head against Florida native, Domenic Hayes in the ‘Battle Rounds’ on NBC’s The Voice Monday evening!

During the Battle Rounds, the coaches pit two of their own team members against each other and they sing the same song together. After their joint performance, the coach chooses which contestant will advance to the Knockouts. However, the losing singer’s journey may not end there: each coach gets two chances to “steal” a contestant who wasn’t chosen by their own coach.

Rose and Hayes sang, “I Need A Dollar” and while many argue Rose came out on top, ultimately Adam Levine selected Hayes to go forward!

After making his selection, the other judges had the opportunity to “steal” Rose, however, no one did.

“I’m surprised that nobody stole Trey,” said Levine. “I thought he was fantastic.”

The musician posted to social media not long after the episode aired.

First, and foremost, to everyone at NBC and The Voice THANK YOU! I wasn’t sure, going into this if it was something I’d regret doing. This was honestly one of the best experiences of my entire life, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. To all my fans, old and new, thank you for the support, and trust me when I say I have so much coming in 2019! Please, be on the lookout for new music ASAP. To all my fellow season 16 contestants I’m so proud to have been one of you, and I can not wait to see what this show does for the rest of you! And lastly, a special message to my man, my BROTHER, Domenic Haynes. There’s an old saying “You come at the king, you best not miss.” Everyone knew you were the guy to take out on Team Adam. I shot my shot, and I missed! But my mans did we put on a SHOW! It was so fun watching us perform, and I loved every second of working on this with you. You have one of the coolest voices I’ve ever heard, and I know you’re doing big things with it. This isn’t the end. It’s the beginning…for all of us. I’ll see you again, soon, America.

Trey Rose all of northeast Texas is proud of you for making it to the Battle Rounds and representing our area! Congratulations.
