Reverend William Dverle Archer, of Paris, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, on his 92nd birthday.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Don Graham and Rev. Troy Drake officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Union Cemetery at Taylortown. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Archer, the son of Eulen & Ruby Matlock Archer, was born March 25, 1927, in Kensing, Texas.

He attended Delta County Schools and served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

For several years Dverle was a farmer before moving to Fort Worth where he worked for Chance Vought for a number of years. Upon returning to Lamar County he began preaching at the Union Church at Taylortown and working at the Gordon Sausage Market. Following twenty years at the church in Taylortown he began his ministry at the Highway Full Gospel Church in Paris where he and his wife faithfully served for thirty-four years.

On July 11, 1946, he married Donna Abbott, building sixty-six years of family and memories before her death on her 87th birthday, June 26, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Archer, a daughter-in-law, Donna Archer and a sister, Juanita Pickering.

Survivors include three children; Dvonnie Saffell & husband Shane, Sammy Archer, and Eddie Archer & wife Carie all of Paris, grandchildren; Shana Meusel & husband Justin, Brad Archer & wife Lisa, Aimee McQuaid & husband Martin, Jeremy Archer & wife Kristen and Carlee Brazeal & husband Ben, great grandchildren; Lauren & McKenzie Meusel, Samantha, Katy & Benjamin McQuaid, Max & Jake Archer, Brandt, Breann, Bryce and Brolin Archer and Caralee Brazeal, two sisters; Katy Ann Sanders & husband Thurman and Nelda Sue Allred along with many nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Jeremy Archer, Bradley Archer, Bryan Lewis, Ben Brazeal, Glenn Bell, Lawrence Malone, Mike Malone & Drew Miller. Honorary bearers will be: Gaylon Little, Johnny Lick, Larry Smith, John Piper, Kerry Washington, Keith Day, Carl Wade, Tony Clark, Daniel Hines and Chad Lamb.
