It may be ‘National EMS Week’, but Paris EMS paramedics know all too well that it takes a team of first responders sometimes to ensure that a patient gets quick and accurate care.

Veteran paramedic John Janes with Paris EMS said that each year during this week celebrating paramedics all over the country, it was important to show the appreciation to other first responders that help them do their job to their best abilities.

“We will have hot dogs, hamburgers and all the trimmings for everyone who is able to come,” Janes said.

“It’s important for us (as paramedics) to acknowledge our fellow first responders and those volunteers in the county for the hard work they do,” he explained, “a lot of times they are the first to a scene and help patients with their anxiety which in turn helps us greatly.”

The dinner will be held tonight at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds at 570 E Center St. in Paris. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with plenty of opportunity for those who attend to enjoy a catch up with friends old and new.
