What began on Jan. 12, the 90-day STOP, LOOK AND BE SAFE traffic study was implemented for the city of Paris and TxDOT to see if they are able to replace traffic signals with stop signs, according to Andrew Mack, director of planning and development for the city of Paris.
After the 90-day study, the city’s traffic commission and city council will be presented with a report to determine how to proceed with the complete two-way system implementation project. The city council adopted a downtown plan in 2018 recommending the downtown area to return to two-way traffic leading to and from the downtown square.
The city continues to encourage motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution while traveling in the downtown area and while crossing the intersections during this short-term study period.
Citizens are encouraged to Take the Survey or provide feedback by contacting Cheri Bedford at Cbedford@paristexas.gov or call 903-784-9293 for any questions.
