Making news today in the NFL is the possible reignition of Colin Kaepernick’s football career as an open workout set for this Saturday in Atlanta, GA has all 32 teams talking.

The former San Francisco 49ers Quarterback is attempting to resurrect his NFL career and will hold a private workout, according to ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Kaepernick is probably more well known now for his kneeling during the National Anthem in what he called a silent protest, then what he was able to achieve on the field.

According to Inside The Star, “For fans who believed Colin Kaepernick was blackballed after all of the kneeling during the national anthem fiasco, this is long overdue. For everyone else, they probably couldn’t care less. But, where exactly do the Dallas Cowboys stand? After all, that’s all we really care about here around Cowboys Nation. Right!?”

Well, it appears as if the Dallas Cowboys could be at least a little bit interested. Or, it could just be them doing their due diligence. Either way, it looks as if they will have somebody on hand at the workout.”

On Wednesday, a source confirmed to WFAA Sports that the Dallas Cowboys will have a representative at Kaepernick’s workout this weekend.

ESPN Josina Anderson is just one of many NFL commentators and reporters that have taken to Twitter with speculation of what could happen this coming weekend at the open practice.

Anderson tweeted, “Just spoke to a source from an NFC NFL team that told me their team will review the Colin Kaepernick workout in the morning. The source’s opinion: “We have nothing to lose by attending Kaepernick’s workout, but I still think for us it would just be an information-gathering trip,” shortly after news broke.

Then followed an hour later, breaking this news to Cowboys fans, “After speaking to another team from my last tweet, as of now, I’m told there is interest within the #Cowboys organization to send at least one representative to Colin Kaepernick’s workout, per source.”

Schefter, also tweeted about the upcoming practice saying late Tuesday evening, “As Colin Kaepernick tweeted, the NFL didn’t inform his reps of Saturday’s workout in Atlanta until this morning. Kaepernick’s reps asked for the workout to be on a Tuesday, the day of most workouts, but the NFL said it had to be this Saturday. He asked for a later Saturday; NFL said no.”

He added a short time later, “Colin Kaepernick’s reps asked the NFL for a list of personnel executives and coaches who would be attending the workout; they are hoping and expecting the NFL to submit the list of personnel executives and coaches that will attend on Saturday.”

Many commentators are saying this is the opportunity Kaepernick has been waiting for since his release from the 49ers. And the former football star said in a tweet, “I’ve been in shape and ready for this for three years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.”

Inside The Star explained that the Dallas Cowboys are going to need another backup quarterback next season.

“Cooper Rush is in the last year of his rookie contract and is set to become a free agent after the completion of the 2019 season. In Colin Kaepernick, they would not only be upgrading Dak Prescott’s backup but also adding a QB with a similar skill set as him as well,” they explained.

However, there is a catch to all of this. Kaepernick hasn’t thrown a pass in the NFL since the 2016 season. Also, he’d have to be willing to accept a backup role. Those are some pretty big red flags, but he could do a lot worse than bringing his talent to Texas as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. For an athlete wanting to come back to the field, a backup position may be his only chance to make his way back onto a team.

“The Cowboys could actually be the best spot for him to resurrect his career. The national attention he would receive as a member of America’s Team could be the best place for him to put his talents on display and prove he still has something left in the tank, even if it is in a backup role. If he can do that, there’s no telling where his career could go from there,” The Inside Star told.

But, could Kaepernick truly be apart of “America’s Team”? If given the chance to play on one of the 32 teams within the NFC and AFC, will he still take a knee to the anthem? And, how many organizations are genuinely interested in Kaepernick as a player and not just interested in seeing his open practice? These appear to be the main questions on the NFL reporter’s lips as they discuss the topic.

According to several online NFL sports commentators, they do expect to hear how many GM’s and teams are interested in the footballer sometime next week. Video of the practice and interview are expected to be available to all NFL teams by Saturday afternoon.

The NFL hasn’t confirmed Kaepernick’s workout details.
