This week, Nov. 6-12, 2023, has been designated Municipal Courts Week, and the City of Paris is recognizing those who work in the court.
Recognized is Deputy Court Clerk Kori Blackshear, Deputy Court Clerk Jill Gott, Court Administrator Kelly Ferguson and Bailiff Stephen “Red” Holmes.
Judge Thomas Hunt, III, appointed by the Paris City Council, presides over the court.
“Historically, more people come in contact with municipal courts than all other Texas courts combined. Title 2 of the Texas Government Code establishes a Municipal Court in every incorporated city, town, or village in the state. Municipal Courts have jurisdiction over city ordinance and Class C misdemeanor cases and limited jurisdiction in dangerous dog cases. Municipal Court judges may issue search and arrest warrants,” said the City of Paris-Municipality.
