Brett Donavan Parker, age 51, passed away January 8, 2019.

He was born June 16, 1957 in Pampa, Texas. Brett grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Walden Prep High School.  Brett joined the Navy in 1986 and served 7 years reaching the rank of QM2.  He was stationed in Japan, Guam and Hawaii and was in Afghanistan during the Gulf War.  After the Navy, Brett continued in maritime work.  He worked for several companies throughout his career including Off Shore Diving Rigs, Harbor Tugs, EPA Bold, and worked with nuclear subs in Cape Canaveral.

He is survived by his dad, Jim Parker; his daughter, Bridgett Parker; grandparents, Bob and Pauline Parker of San Antonio, TX; grandmother, Johanna Clark of Farmington, AR; step-sister, Theresa Parish; step-brother, Mike Parish; cousins, Debbie Foster and Lisa Blake of Amarillo.  Brett is also survived by many other cousins and family members.  As a result of years working on many different ships and traveling the world while doing so, Brett had friends from all walks of life and from all over the world.

When he was on land, Brett spent a lot of time in Deport, TX where he had a lot of relatives in the area.  He spent many years converting an old bank into his home.  He loved to play drums and played with several of his friends when he was there.  His lifelong dream was to live on a boat.  In 2016, he moved to Florida and spent his last years in Cocoa, FL living on his boat.  While in Cocoa, he fulfilled two other lifetime dreams-becoming a certified diver and traveling to the Florida Keys on his boat.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Cemetery in Deport, TX with Doug Phillips officiating.  There will be a luncheon following the service at First Baptist Church in Deport.
