On Friday morning, Aaron Parker Elementary School hosted a heartfelt Veterans Day program in their gymnasium, bringing together students, staff, and community members to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
The program featured a keynote speech by North Lamar alumnus Mason Riser, Class of 2013, and included performances and tributes by students and special guests.
Students from PreK through 4th grade sang a selection of patriotic songs, filling the gym with heartfelt melodies. During the tribute, 3rd-grade Gifted and Talented (GT) students stood at the front of the gym and participated in a special ceremony. As the songs representing each branch of the Armed Forces played, veterans in attendance stepped forward to be recognized and pinned by the students.
Adding to the program’s reverence, the Parker Boy Scouts presented the American flags and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.
The program concluded with a moving rendition of Taps played by Tony Boss on the trumpet, providing a solemn and powerful ending to the morning’s tribute.
The event served as a meaningful opportunity for students and the community to express their gratitude and respect for veterans. Aaron Parker Elementary extends its deepest appreciation to all who have served and to those who joined them in honoring these local heroes.
