Dr. L C Stout, 89, of Paris, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at The Plaza.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Bush officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Dr. Stout, the son of Clyde Stout and Edna Lee Chumbley Stout, was born March 24, 1937. He graduated from Blossom High School. L C worked at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth while attending Arlington Junior College, which became UTA while he was there, graduating in 1966. He was called to preach in 1963, while living in Paris, Texas. Upon this call, Bro. Stout and Jerry Nell, along with Jerry Curtiss and Cathy moved to Fort Worth so he could attend college. He began work at Bell Helicopter at night, while attending college during the day. Sponsored by his church, he began preaching at the nursing home in Richland Hills on Sunday mornings. During this time Jerry Nell worked in the office of Texas Express in Fort Worth. Bethel Baptist Church in Clardy called Bro. Stout as pastor in 1967. While continuing to work at Bell Helicopter and going to school at Arlington State, he, Jerry Nell and the kids drove to Clardy on the weekends to preach.
In 1969, Mr. Lloyd Simmons hired Bro. Stout to teach, and they moved to Deport. The following year, the schools of Blossom, Cunningham, East Lamar and Deport consolidated to become Prairiland. During these years, he continued his educational pursuits at East Texas State University until he obtained his Masters and Doctorate Degrees.
Dr. Stout served 24 years at Bethel Baptist Church, one year at Pattonville Baptist Church. In 1983, he returned to Bethel Baptist Church until 1993. That year he became pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Deport.
Dr. Stout was given the opportunity to become principal at Blossom Elementary in 1985. In 1992, he became superintendent of Prairiland I.S.D. He retired from Prairiland in 2000 and worked part time for Region VIII E.S.C. and T.E.A. until 2009. He was thankful for all the opportunities that God gave him to preach His gospel and teach so many wonderful young people in school.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Jerry Nell Stout, a son, Michael, and a brother, Weldon Stout.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Jerry Curtiss Stout and wife Mitzy, a daughter, Cathy Lea Stout, grandchildren, Christen Leigh Stout, Lance Chandler Stout and wife Sally, and Brittany Gail Stout Johnson and husband Jamaal, great grandchildren, Luke Stout, Hudson Stout, Hattie Stout, Timothy Johnson, and Magnolia Johnson, and two brothers, Bob Stout and Johnny Stout and wife Reva along with numerous nieces and nephews and a plethora of friends.
