On May 5, Officers stopped a vehicle for defective equipment in the 2800 block of N. Main. The driver was identified as Braelon Darriel Kearney (25) of Powderly. Due to the smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle, Kearney was detained and the vehicle was searched. Officers located marijuana in numerous locations in the vehicle as well as other illegal narcotics. Kearney was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Felony. He was booked and taken to county jail without incident.
On May 4, Officers were advised of a Burglary of a Vehicle in the 2000 block of Cleveland St. the victim’s vehicle was unlocked and in the driveway. The suspect opened the door and gained entry to the vehicle. A handgun was taken from the console of the vehicle. Another unlocked vehicle on the property was also entered but nothing was stolen. The case is under investigation at this time.
Officers made 23 traffic stops, 2 adult arrest, and answered 128 calls for service during this reporting period.
