Jerry Lynn Haning (76) passed away peacefully with his sister and nephew at his side in the early morning hours of October 25, 2025, at Paris Regional Health.

Jerry was born smiling on April 9, 1949, to JR Haning and Doris Cooper Haning in Paris, TX. He attended school at Fourth Ward elementary, Powderly elementary, and Paris High School where he graduated. He began working for his father while in elementary school, learning the home building business from the ground up. Jerry began his own building business which resulted in the construction of many beautiful luxury homes and commercial buildings in the Paris area. His fingerprints can be seen in the Paris public pool buildings and the North Main Fire station. He was able to teach himself how to draw house and commercial building plans in AutoCAD after having drawn them by hand for decades. Jerry and his first wife owned a gift shop named Bits ‘n Pieces located in the Village Shopping Center. He was partnered with the Clifford family in the building of radiology clinics across NE Texas. He served on several committees for the city of Paris. Jerry mastered woodworking and carving skills and sold his beautiful creations with his second wife at art fairs and at the Canton flea market for many years. He and his father partnered to manufacture Texas Twisters, which was a fun children’s toy also sold at fairs and flea markets.
Jerry was a wonderful cook (especially his gumbo) and an avid gardener. Forever the class clown, Jerry had a gregarious personality. Despite his health struggles later in life, Jerry was always an optimist. His love for his family, former classmates, and friends was obvious. Prior to his decline in health, Jerry was an active member of First Baptist Church.
Jerry is survived by his sister Norma Haning McIntire, nieces Laura McIntire Jordan and her husband Byron of Longview, TX, Emily Haning Creswell and husband Ryan of Owasso, OK, and Holly Haning of Hillsboro, TX and nephews Darren McIntire and his wife Melanie of Paris, TX, and Aaron Haning of Ft. Worth, TX. Jerry leaves behind many grand nieces and grand nephews Zachary McIntire, Derek Jordan, Chase Tanner, Lane Tanner, Noah Tanner, Jonah Fowler, and James Haning. He is also survived by his first wife Rebecca Mobley, his second wife Theresa Merritt, and the daughter of his fiancé, Deana Miner and husband R.L.
Jerry was preceded in death by parents JR Haning and Doris Cooper Haning, brother Jimmy Don Haning, brother-in-law Wylie McIntire, and fiancé Phyllis Crawford.
