Spring Break is right around the corner and if you were planning on heading to the Gulf Coast you may want to think again – there are high levels of fecal bacteria.

According to the website, texasbeachwatch.com there is fecal bacteria in areas from Galveston down to Corpus Christi and to South Padre Island.

High-level alert areas include the Galveston Sea Wall, Surfside, Port Bolivar, Freeport areas and Jerry Park in Matagorda County.

South Padre Island and Corpus Christi had medium to low-level alerts for fecal bacteria.

Texas Beach Watch is operated by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas General Land Office (GLO). The website will update when Enterococcus bacteria levels in the water exceed the acceptable standards established by the EPA. The Texas GLO works with local governments to issue warnings to the public.
