As the world slowly begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Levante UD at Paris is gearing back up for another year of high-level soccer competition with plenty of opportunities for local talent to attain notoriety and quality training.
The club reopened practice earlier this month, holding practices at the fields located at 4200 Old Clarksville Road. Those who participate go through warm-ups, drills, and scrimmages among other activities.
“We started tryouts June 1 and we will hold them until June 30 on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s,” Levante UD coach Ramon Torres said. “The younger group runs from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., and the older group goes from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Basically, we are looking to see where the kids are at with their skill level and physical conditioning, and we try to combine the conditioning with the skills side of things together to accelerate the process. If you’re going to concentrate just on physical conditioning, then it will take you two or three months to get into shape.”
Torres said he plans to have teams and players from both the boys and girls sides to play against other club teams in Dallas.
He said there are also special opportunities available in the future that would possibly allow for players to explore opportunities with club soccer programs abroad in places such as Spain.
Torres said he offers practices locally to help save money for families who have children with aspirations to play against club soccer teams in the metroplex. Levante UD has the proper certifications to allow for local practices to count officially, saving several hours and dollars of travel time.
The club anticipates the season to begin towards the end of August, possibly around Aug. 24 and should end in the middle of November. Torres said the cost per player is $70 per month. For questions about cost, registration, and other details, contact Sherry Torres at 903-491-2202.
