Emergency supplies are sales tax free this weekend in Texas and it never hurts to have too many supplies in case of an emergency.
“Fear not, the only real crisis is not taking advantage of the #TXTaxHoliday savings! Prepare for tax-free purchases on crucial emergency supplies,” said Texas Comptroller on X.
The sales tax holiday starts Saturday, April 27, and runs through Monday, April 29. If you don’t want to go to the store, online purchases count as well.
Some of the items that are tax exempt include:
- Portable generators (less than $3,000)
- Emergency ladders (less than $300)
- Axes, batteries, can openers, carbon monoxide detectors, coolers and ice chest, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fuel containers and more
Items not included are camping supplies like camping stoves, cleaning supplies and plywood.
Delivery, shipping, handling and transportation charges are part of the sales price. If the emergency preparation supply being purchased is taxable, the delivery charge is also taxable.
