Sam Rayburn ISD employee Kevin Lynn Chambliss, 50, of Bonham, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography on Jan. 26.
“As a public school district, the safety and well-being of our students are among our highest priorities,” said Sam Rayburn ISD Superintendent Lance Campbell. “We appreciate the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office for notifying us immediately given the nature and severity of the charges. I encourage any current or former students, or their parents, to contact my office, a campus administrator, or law enforcement with any questions or if they wish to share any information related to Mr. Chambliss’ time in our schools.”
The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant of Chambliss’ residence in the 1500 block of Rec. Road 3 in Bonham on Jan. 25, where investigators “seized electronic devices suspected of containing child pornography.” Chambliss was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography on Jan. 26, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to Sam Rayburn ISD, Chambliss passed an FBI criminal background check before being employed with the district. Sam Rayburn ISD placed Chambliss on administrative leave on Jan. 25, pending the investigation, and terminated him on Jan. 26 shortly after learning of his arrest.
Chambliss remains in the Fannin County Detention Center on a $40,000 bond.
