Powderly Volunteer Fire Department is beyond grateful for the support from the community it serves after it saw a successful fundraiser this past weekend bringing in a record-breaking $42,000.
“We cannot thank our community enough for all they do for us,” said Randi Johnson, Powderly VFD informations officer. “Saturday night was a full house that was full of familiar faces of our neighbors, local officials, fellow first responders and numerous contributors to our event.”
Johnson said the department enjoyed the amount of hard work that went into planning the fundraiser, because “it gives us the opportunity to host our community and friends, who get to meet their fire department and continue that the close relationship we have – one we never take for granted.”
During the fundraiser, Powderly VFD highlighted one of its long-time supporters – Powderly Dairy Queen store manager Vicki Foster. The department presented Foster with a commemorative plaque for continuously supporting Powderly VFD and Lamar County first responders.
“We had numerous contributors from volunteers, donations to the auction, monetary donations,” Johnson said. “Some of the items we had were phenomenal and mind blowing. And every single contributor to this event, you are very much appreciated.”
She said Powderly VFD wants to continue to be the best it can be for Powderly and Lamar Co.
“And from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support,” Johnson said.
