Parker Family STEM Night, held on February 22, 2024, ignited imaginations and fostered teamwork as participants delved into the world of engineering and design processes. Hosted with the theme of “Engineering and Design,” the event challenged attendees to think critically and creatively while working together to create doll furniture from provided materials.
The highlight of the evening was the engaging challenge where participants were tasked with utilizing a set of given items to craft a piece of doll furniture. However, the challenge wasn’t just about building furniture; it was about embracing the engineering and design process. Participants were encouraged to brainstorm, plan, prototype, and iterate on their designs within a time constraint of 15 minutes.
To add an extra layer of excitement, participants were awarded extra points if their doll furniture could stand without additional support, adding a delightful element of innovation and stability to the creations.
With an enthusiastic turnout of approximately 25 attendees, the Parker Family STEM Night exemplified the power of collaboration and hands-on learning. Families worked side by side, pooling their collective talents and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and bring their designs to life.
Throughout the evening, laughter and excitement filled the air as participants embraced the spirit of teamwork and exploration. Parents and children alike were empowered to think outside the box and explore the endless possibilities of STEM education.
The success of Parker Family STEM Night underscores the importance of providing engaging and interactive experiences that inspire curiosity and ignite a passion for learning within our community.
