Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:13am: Paris Police Officer responded to the 1600 block of Lamar Avenue, where a business owner stated that in December of 2022 a male subject selected a touchscreen stereo and other items to purchase, totaling $359.85 and completed the purchase with a check that later bounced and was reported as a hot check to the Lamar County Attorney’s Office and is now being investigated as a Forgery.
Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2:32pm: Telephone Reporting Unit took a call in the Paris Police Department lobby of forged checks. The victim stated that her online bank statement showed that one check had been cashed and cleared in the amount of $3,900.00 at an ENT Credit Union in Colorado Springs, Colorado and a second check in the amount of $4000.00 had been mobile deposited into a Zing Credit Union account in Denver, Colorado. The two counterfeit checks had the same numbers as unwritten checks still in the victim’s possession. The victim’s bank in the 300 of Lamar is assisting with the counterfeit investigations.
Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 6:42pm: Paris Police Dispatch received a call from a caller in the 2400 Bonham Street, stating that a female came to her door claiming that she had been thrown from a vehicle. Officer arrived and spoke with the victim, who stated that she had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend inside their residence in the 100 block of NW 27th. Street. The assault continued outside and into a vehicle. As the suspect drove down Bonham Street; the victim stated she jumped from the moving vehicle in the 2400 block of Bonham Street to avoid further assault. Paris Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Paris Regional Health Center. The known suspect has not been located and the investigation will continue.
