Honey Grove Volunteer Fire Department has set its inaugural Varmint Hunt for March 18-19, from noon to noon.
Cost to register a 2- to 3-man team is $250 per team. Payout will go to first and second place if there are 14 or less teams. If there are more than 15 teams, then payout will go to first, second and third places.
A side pot with 100% payout will go toward the team with the most coyotes and heaviest coyote.
Main pot point system:
- Bobcats, 110 points
- Coyotes, 50 points
- Raccoons, 20 points
A tie breaker will be made through total weight of counted varmints.
Participants must follow county, state and federal hunting laws – including having proper Texas hunting license. Teams breaking the law will be disqualified. All team members must be present during the Sunday weigh-in by noon to claim prize money.
