Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley is clarifying some of the events surrounding the shooting on Fairfax Street on Saturday, March 2nd.
While the Texas Rangers continue to investigate the incident, the Paris Police Department released this statement earlier this morning.
“To clarify an earlier statement issued by the Department, the weapon involved in the fight between the male homeowner and Dillard belonged to the homeowner and not to Mr. Dillard,” said Hundley.
To further clarify, Hundley said the child who was present at the home when the shooting started remained at the home and another person, an adult, did flee the home as originally stated.
“The entire incident remains under investigation by the Texas Rangers, and the Department, after talking with the family of Mr. Dillard, will issue no further statements pending completion of that investigation.”
