Ibrahim Fuseini added two more Southland Conference Championships to his ledger as the East Texas A&M University track & field teams closed out the SLC Indoor Championships on Monday at the CrossPlex with the men taking third and the women coming in fifth.
The Lion men matched their best result at a SLC meet, finishing third for the second time in three years at the indoor meet, while the Lion women recorded their best finish in the indoor meet since joining the Southland.

WOMEN
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) started her day on the track with a silver medal in the 60 meter dash, timing a new personal-best of 7.39 seconds. She raced to a new personal-best in the 200 meter dash of 23.73 seconds to win her first career conference championship. Sydnee Wilson (Lewisville) clocked in at 24.61 seconds for eighth.
The Lions went 1-2 in the high jump, with Magdaline Campo (Montpellier) clearing a personal-best mark of 5-10 (1.78m), while Veronika Kramarenko (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) came in second, clearing 5-8.75 (1.75m).
Amaka Ezukanma (Fort Worth – Timber Creek) jumped a school-record mark of 40-8.75 (12.41m) for a silver medal in the triple jump, while Blessing Samuel (Benin, Nigeria) took fourth with a mark of 39-10.75 (12.16m), and Dejah Fuller (Waxahachie Life) placed seventh with a mark of 39-0.25 (11.89m).
Samuel was also named the conference’s co-newcomer of the year.
In the final race of the meet, the Lion quartet of Oriana Gee (Cy-Lakes), Roane Lion (Georgetown – East View), Savannah Harvey (Shawnee, Kan.), and Pettis clocked in at fourth with a time of 3:46.04.
MEN
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) won first of his two conference championships with a time of 6.68 seconds in the 60 meter dash, while Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) clocked in at 6.86 seconds for sixth, and Oguz Uyar (Cannakele, Turkey) took eighth with 6.93 seconds.
The trio also scored in the 200 meter dash as Fuseini set a new meet record and school record with a time of 20.72 seconds, while Fosuhene was the runner up with a time of 20.85 seconds, and Uyar timed 21.59 seconds for fifth.
Nicholas Deutsch (Frisco) just missed the podium, but finished fourth with a time of 4:14.38 in the one mile run and Josh Shanahan (Noosaville, Australia) clocked in at 4:17.99 for eighth. In the 400 meter dash, Philip Krenek (Prague, Czech Republic) clocked in at 47.61 seconds for fourth place.
The action on the track closed out on with the 4×400 meter relay squad of Krenek, Fosuhene, Myles Redding (Waco – University), and Fuseini timed 3:10.85 for a silver medal.
The men’s heptathlon completed on Monday as Jonas Gran (Riehen, Switzerland) finished sixth with 5,045 points. He had the top time in the 1,000 meter run to close out the event.
MEN’S TEAM SCORES
SFA used 23 points in the triple jump, which was the penultimate event to finish to edge out UIW and win the SLC Championship with 124 points, while the Cardinals, who had won the previous two indoor championships, finished second with 93 points. The Lions posted 72 points for third and McNeese came in fourth with 70 points.

WOMEN’S TEAM SCORES
Northwestern State used a conference championship in the 4×400 meter relay to sail past Lamar and win its third indoor championship in a row. The Lady Demons scored 118 points, while the Cardinals scored 115.
UTRGV was in third with 85 points, A&M-Corpus Christi posted 83 points for fourth, and the Lions scored 77 for fifth.
