If you want to own a piece of Hollywood history, now is your chance as John Travolta’s iconic “Saturday Night Fever” suit hits the auction block.
The vintage 1970s screen-matched, three-piece white suit worn by the actor in his Academy Award nominated role as “Tony Manero” in the classic blockbuster motion picture Saturday Night Fever.
Martin Nolan, executive director and found of Julien’s Auctions, said the estimate of the suit is $100,000 to $200,000 but he expects it to more thank double because of its significance.
The three-piece suit is comprised of three individual pieces: the suit jacket, vest and pants. All made of 100% polyester, which was at the height of its popularity in the latter part of the 1970s at disco clubs, despite it not being considered a breathable fabric. The Saturday Night Fever suit demonstrates the fashion of the decade, fitted with the iconic pant flares.
The suit is accompanied by supporting documentation including Letter’s of Authenticity from Paramount Studios, John Travolta, and Hollywood historian Marc Wannamaker as well as signed photos, lobby cards, press kit, album, and DVD.
