Jerry Lynn McDonald, Sr., 69, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2nd at First Christian Church, 780 N. E. 20th St., with Rev. Brad Crosswhite officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be made at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in the near future.
Mr. McDonald, the son of Royce Claude and Marie Butler McDonald, was born June 20, 1949, in Dallas.
He attended Mesquite schools and then joined the United States Army. He served in Vietnam from 1968-1969. In Feb. of 1973, he re-upped and served as an Active Duty Reservist at Ft. Hood with the 101st Airborne. Jerry received the Army Commendation and three Bronze Stars.
He worked at Texas Instruments for a period of time, was a volunteer firefighter, and a HAMM Radio Operator. He participated in the COP program in Paris and was a member of the VFW and the Maxey Rifle Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Zachary and Colby.
Survivors include his wife, Tomilou Kemp McDonald, five children, June Marie Adkins & husband Jason, Jerry McDonald, Jr., William Brian McDonald and Aaron Joshua McDonald all of Paris and Pamela Dawn Barrow & husband William of Jasper, grandchildren; Timothy, Eli, Andi, Lecia, Richard William, Matthew, Joshua, Nathan and Cheyenne, one great-granddaughter, Katie, a brother, Larry McDonald & wife Amber of Athens and a sister, Belinda Mulrooney & husband Gary of Tawakoni along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Honorary casket bearers will be: Jerry McDonald, Jr., William Brian McDonald, Joshua McDonald, Jacob Jones and Tyler Mathis.
