The Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley is set to host its 71st Annual Youth Auction tonight, and event organizers are optimistic for this year’s fundraiser.
Montgomery Moore said the organization saw about 50 additional items come in Tuesday afternoon, bringing the donations to more than 300.
“I feel really good about the auction this year,” Moore said. “People continue to show up and support in big ways. Every time we have any kind of fundraiser for the BnG our community just shows up and it’s overwhelming how much support we get.”
During the 2019 auction, Moore said the fundraiser brought in more than $190,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. Roughly $30,000 was donated directly to sponsor Boys and Girls Club children. This year, locals still have the opportunity to sponsor a child for $300, which covers costs throughout the year.
“We’re going to do our best to social distance, and we’ve made a bigger effort this year to broadcast the auction in multiple ways,” he said. “So if you can not attend, you can tune in and see it real-time or hear it real-time.”
