James Broussard McCranie passed away peacefully July 7, 2018, at home in Roxton, Texas.

Jim was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Burgess Edmond McCranie and Mary Page Harlow McCranie. He was a graduate of Bossier High School and attended LSU. His early careers ranged from the oil fields to restaurant ownership, culminating with a 25-year career with Home Depot, where he loved the daily interaction of teaching and helping those around him.

He loved many things, but family and LSU football were among the top. He enjoyed nothing more than a good meal with a great group of friends. He was the life of any party or gathering and had an infectious laugh you couldn’t help but love. If he wasn’t out hunting his property or taking his dogs for a ride, he’d be found on his porch listening to great music or reading a good book. Most of all, he enjoyed watching the sunset on Texas and an impromptu dance with the love of his life.

Jim is survived by his wife of 36 years, Della McFatridge McCranie, his children, Sarah Katherine McCranie and Hunter Clay McCranie, brother, Burgess E. McCranie Jr., sister, Tommie Sue McCranie Brooks (Gerald), sister Peggy McCranie and brother- in- law, J.B. Rideout.

Surviving nieces and nephews include Elizabeth McCranie Edwards (Tripp), Burgess E. McCranie III (Beth), Mary Louise McCranie Stansell (Chris), Lee Hughes, James Brandon Rideout, and Jeremy Blaine Rideout (Allyson).

He is predeceased by his sister, Sarah Page McCranie, his sister, Judith McCranie, his sister- in- law, Janet Ann McFatridge Rideout, and his parents Burgess and Mary Page McCranie.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, 10am-12 noon, August 4, 2018, at North Bossier Park, 4307 Old Brownlee Road in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Bossier High School/James B. McCranie LSU Memorial Fund at 777 Bearkat Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111, or GoFundMe.com/JBMcCranieFund.

“Geaux Tigers! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!”

Special thanks to Rachel Wood, Tutu and Brooks, Melody and Ray Coughlin, and the medical team at Willis-Knighton in Shreveport, Louisiana.
