With New Years celebrations right around the corner, the Reno Parks and Trail Committee is clarifying restrictions for fireworks within city limits.
Fireworks, as limited and restricted, may be discharged only from Dec. 20 through Jan. 6.
From Monday through Saturday during these dates, citizens may discharge or explode fireworks within the city and its extraterritorial jurisdiction between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
On Sunday, fireworks, as restricted, are permitted from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
On the dates of Dec. 31 through Jan. 1, regardless of the day of the week, fireworks, with the restrictions contained herein, are permitted beginning at 11:00 a.m. on the New Years Eve and no later than 1:00 a.m. on New Years Day.

Fireworks meeting these definitions cannot be exploded or discharged in the city or the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city:
(1) Any missile with fins or attached guidance devices which is designed to explode at apex and emit noise or lights in conjunction with the explosion. This definition shall not include model rocketry so long as:
(A) The model is not designed to or altered to explode at apex; and the model has a recovery system.
(2) Stick rockets with a stick measuring less than 16 inches.
