On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, just after 11:00 a.m., officers with the Paris Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1100 block of NW 15th Street.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a male suspect had assaulted a female by choking her and restricting her ability to breathe. The female was eventually able to escape and contact police.
Following the investigation, the male was placed under arrest and charged with Assault of a Family or Household Member – Impeding Breath or Circulation, a third-degree felony.
The suspect was transported to the Lamar County Jail, where he was booked without incident.
Drug and Warrant Arrest
Shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, officers with the Paris Police Department were dispatched to a business in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue after a female was observed on surveillance video dropping a baggie containing what appeared to be a small amount of suspected cocaine.
Officers contacted the female and conducted an investigation. During a subsequent search, officers located suspected methamphetamine in her possession, as well as the suspected cocaine. Officers also discovered that the female had outstanding warrants through the City of Paris for unpaid traffic tickets.
The female was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1B, one to four grams, for the suspected methamphetamine, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1B, less than one gram, for the suspected cocaine.
She was transported to the Lamar County Jail and booked without incident.
Officers made 25 traffic stops, made 8 adult arrests, and answered 68 calls for service during this reporting period.
