The East Texas A&M University track & field teams continue to be rated highly across the country, the region, and the Southland Conference in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Ratings Index that were announced on Tuesday morning.
The Lion men are currently rated the top team in the SLC over Northwestern State by 45 points as well as 12th in the South Central region and 94th in the country.
On the women’s side, the Lions continue to rank second in the conference, behind Northwestern State, and 15th in the South Central region. The Lion women are also rated No. 94 in the country like the Lion men.
In the #EventSquad rankings, the Lions’ 60 meter dash squad is rated No. 5 in the country, just behind USC, Texas Tech, Tennessee, and Auburn. Teams ranked right below the Lions are Kentucky, Washington State, Mississippi State, and Florida State.
Additionally for the Lion men, the 200 meter dash squad is 34th in the country, the 5,000 meter run squad is 44th, and the long jump squad is 59th.
For the Lion women, the triple jump squad is 29th in the country, the 60 meter dash squad is 39th in the country, the 200 meter dash squad is 47th, and the long jump squad is 65th in the country.
The Lions have two more meets before the SLC Indoor Conference Championships. This weekend, East Texas A&M takes part in the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock.
