Detroit ISD has made the decision to close its district for the remainder of the week “due to large number of staff (and) student absences.”
The district will return on Tuesday, Jan. 18, as Monday is a regularly scheduled holiday.
“We are closing to give our staff and students an opportunity to remain at home and stop the spread of the virus,” the district said. “This strand seems to be very contagious and we are hoping with the break, we can stop the spread. Thanks for your help in helping us stop the spread by staying home or away from others as much as possible.”
All school activities have been canceled, and buildings are locked for cleaning. Today is a regular school day.
