Last week, Campbell’s Soup employees learned that a routine review of its supply chain network, focused on growth and its “effectiveness and efficiency,” could impact the Paris plant.
“As part of this analysis, we are evaluating what role the Paris plant plays in our network. This could cover a number of options, including less investment in the plant up to the potential closure of the site,” said director of external communication, James Regan. “No decisions have been made and we expect to conclude this work by the end of May.”
The company made the decision to share the information with employees because of its Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Union set to expire at the end of March.
“We were scheduled to start negotiations for a new labor agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers union. We have requested a short extension to the current agreement because we believe it is important to know the results of the supply chain review before commencing negotiations for a new CBA.”
No further information is available at this time.
