Child artists will have a chance to have their artwork displayed on billboards for the area to adore during Child Abuse Prevention Month come April.
Paris CASA for KIDS is ramping up an art contest themed “CASA Super Heroes,” and the first place winner’s artwork will be displayed on billboards throughout the month of April for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“We are reaching out to the schools to see if students in third and fourth grade would like to participate,” CASA Case Manager/Recruiter Misty Ricks said. “If there are children who are still remote learning who would like to participate, I do encourage their parents to reach out to me via email, and I will send them an entry form.”
There will be two ways in which the contest will be judged. Ricks said CASA staff will narrow the entries down to the top 10. The top 10 will then be displayed and voted on through social media.
“As far as the billboards are concerned we are currently looking at multiple locations, and taking donated space on billboards/digital billboards if possible,” she said.
Entries must be submitted by 4 p.m. on March 12, 2021, and be no larger than 9”x12”.

Ricks started with CASA for KIDS as a volunteer, which helped her focus on each individual child, visiting them a minimum of once a month.
“To me CASA for KIDS is amazing, a CASA Advocate gives the child a voice in the courtroom, allowing the court to make well-informed decisions,” she said. “Making it possible to give the individualized attention every child deserves. While the child is in foster care they meet a lot of different people that are there for a lot of different reasons, as a CASA volunteer you are there specifically for that child, making sure that all their needs are being met.”
