It’s that time of the year again, when 5,000 green rubber turtles take over the canal at the Love Civic Center for the annual Johnny Stallings Memorial Great Paris Turtle Float.
Adopted turtles will be released into the canal at the Love Civic Center at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, and the public is invited to attend and cheer on the turtles as they race down the canal.
Those who adopt a turtle for $10 each will have a chance to win $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place.
There will also be 10 turtles selected at random after the event for a quick prize of $50.00.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley who mission is to “inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”
