Lamar County Commissioners on Monday appointed Tyler Anderson as Lamar County Precinct 4 Constable following the resignation of Hunter Sanders.
“Because of the vacancy created by the resignation of Precinct 4 Constable Hunter Sanders, the commissioners court appointed Tyler Anderson to the position. We wish Tyler the best of luck as he continues his career in law enforcement,” said Lamar County Judge Brandon Bell.
Anderson won the Republican Primary in March of this year and does not have as opponent in the General Election.
Sanders was arrested on Aug. 1, 2024, for Terroristic Threat against a Peace Officer/Judge and plead guilty on Aug. 21, 2024. He was placed on deferred adjudication probation for five years, according to Lamar County District Attorney Gary Young.
“This type of plea agreement is common for first-time felony offenses and was reached after consulting with the Steed family. The agreement includes a requirement for in-custody drug and alcohol treatment in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility,” said Young. “Sanders also agreed to immediately resign his elected office and permanently forfeit his peace officer’s license.”
Anderson will serve as Lamar County Precinct 4 Constable for the remainder of what would have been Sanders term and begin his (Anderson) term on January 1, 2025.
