Ahmoy Rosson Rater, 94, of Paris, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at her home.
A Mass of Christian burial has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18th, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church led by Father Denzil Vithanage. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by family visitation at BrightHolland Funeral Home. Burial will be made in Union Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Rater, the daughter of Henry J. & Linnie Canter Rosson, was born Sept. 18, 1924, in the Dimple Community of Red River County. On June 24, 1942, she married the love of her life, John O. Rater, building sixty-two years of family and memories before his death on Aug. 3, 2003.
Her God and her family came first. Her friends were a treasure to her. Ahmoy’s love of New Mexico and Indians was known by all who knew her. She was a dental assistant to Dr. Jerald Dodd for twenty years. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Our Lady’s Guild.
Ahmoy was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, a brother, James Rosson, nephews, Glenn Rosson and Joe Rosson and a brother-in-law,
George Rater. Survivors include two sons; Robert J. Rater & wife Leslie of Georgia and Jack R. Rater of Paris, daughter-in-law, Paula Rater of Paris, four grandsons; Jeremiah Rater, Orrin Rater, Jedidiah Rater & Kelsey and Elijah Rater & wife Leighandra, one precious granddaughter, Davie Ahmoy Rater, two step-grandsons, Aaron Caldwell and Andrew Caldwell, three great grandchildren; Sagan Rater, Aulen Rater and Theodore Elijah Rater, three nephews, Jimmy Rosson, John Rosson and Chris Rosson, special nephew & niece, Paul & Virginia Newton, brother-in-law & sistersin-law, Edgar Rater and wife Mary Nell and Arlene Rainey along with a dear friend, Julia Biard.
In lieu of flowers Ahmoy requested that memorials be given to St. Vincent de Paul or the Paris Public Library.
