Bertha Hutchings Smith, 102, of Paris, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20th, at the Evergreen Chapel with Rev. Ollie Lee officiating. Those wishing to pay respects may visit the funeral home through Monday morning.
Mrs. Smith, the daughter of Henry Clay & Nettie Maude Lee Hutchings, was born April 3, 1916, in Lamar County.
She was an avid gardener and loved canning the bounty from her garden. Bertha loved to dance and danced into her seventies. She was known for her wonderful cooking.
On Nov. 4, 1967, she married Aldon Buford Smith, building twenty-seven years of memories before his death on Jan. 13, 1995. She was also preceded in death by numerous brothers & sisters.
Survivors include her son, Jimmie Mills & wife Billie of Paris, two granddaughters, Judy Stephens & husband David of Paris and Jamie Wesson & husband Hal of Woodland, a brother, John Hutchings of Paris, a great-grandson, Jordon Thielman & wife Nicole of Paris along with numerous nieces & nephews including Janice Lomasney of Round Rock and Sandra Norris of Grand Prairie.
